CONJESTIVE HEART FAILUR - Aventrol
- By conjestive heart failur, the heart is
not able to pump enough blood for the requirement of the body, and the
circulatory system gets conjested, and the blood pressure raised. This may be
due to irregular heart beat or to weak contractions. Irregular heart beat may be
caused by lack of the mineral magnesium.
When less blood is circulating, the kidneys react by releasing a protein called
"rennin" which causes the retention of water and sodium. The conjestion
leads to further failure of the heart.
Aventrol is specifically formulated to
help with all these problem components. The ingredients in Aventrol have been
proven to increase the effectiveness and strength of mitochondria, which are the
energy factories that allow the heart to beat.

Here are some information about ingredients and concepts regarding these products
About lipoproteins (HDL and LDL)
Proteins are big molecules consisting of one or more chaines of amino acids. When there are more than one chain, these are bound together with chemical bonds. The chains are also folded in several ways so that they have a more or less compact structure.
Proteins and other substances with big molecules can be separated from each other by hard tumbling or sentrifugation, Some of thos will then be psuhed pulled towards the periphery than others. Those that are pulled faster and longer than others are said to have the greatest density. This tendency is tightly associated with the compactness of the molecule.
Some proteins can bind to themselves cholesterole and fat molecules. Such a combination of fatty substances and protein are called a lipoproteins. The fat and cholesterole carried by the blood from place to place bound to protein molecules, The fat under trasnport and the proteins carrying it constitute together lipoprotein units.
Lipoproteins have a water-soluble surface composed of phospholipids and proteins (apolipoprotein) and a hydrofob core consisting of esterifisert cholesterol and triglycerides.
The lipoproteins found in the blood are generally of two density types as seen by centrifugation, High Density Lipoproteins or HDL and Low Density Lipoproteins or LDL
LDL has a tendency to deliver the fatty substances to the blood vessel walls. HDL has a tendency to take fatty substances away form blood vessel walls. Both HDL and LDL are necessary in the blood, but if it is too much LDL in comparison to HDL, two low HDL/LDL-ration, or too high LDL/HDL-ratio, the risk of getting clogged blood vessels and coronary heart problems will be increased.
About cholesterole
Cholesterol is a lipid (fat-like substance) found
in all mammalian cells. The name derives from the Greek Chole meaning bile and
stereo, fixed. When first identified, the substance was found in solid
form in the gall stones. The chemical suffix-ol tells that the molechule
contains hydroxyl groups "-OH".
Cholesterole uptake,
transport and production physiology
Cholesterol is a Sterol (undergrupppe of steroids)
and synthesized primarily in the liver. It is an important building block for
all cell membranes and the precursor of sex hormones, corticosteroids, bile
salts and vitamin D. Although cholesterol can be synthesized by the body's own
cells, is also slightly raised from the diet.
Cholesterol is virtually insoluble in water and consequently also in the blood.
Therefore cholesterole is carried around in the blood by proteins and the
combination of these proteins and fatty substances like cholesterole constitute
lipoproteins.
The most cholesterol-rich of lipoproteins are of the low-density lipoprotein (LDL) type, and these contain 70% of cholesterol in the blood. LDL-cholesterol is often referred to as the "bad cholesterol" because the increased concentration of LDL-cholesterol is an important risk factor for cardiovascular disease.
Cholesterole is necessary for the body. If the body does not get enough choleesterole, it makes it from saturated fat. It is bad only when it is too much of it. It gets too much if if one onsume too much cholesterole-rich food or too much saturated fat.
The role of cholesterole in the body
Cholesterole is a component of all cell membranes. It gives the membrane the righ flexibility at several temperatures, and thus it is important for all processes where the cell membrane must be flexible, for example by invagination to take up other substances from outside the cell.
It is used by the liver to make bile salts. These salts help to dissolve fat in the digestive process.
It is used to make many important hormones, for example the homone cortisol of the adrenal glands and the sex hormones.
About high blood cholesterol
content
High content of cholesterole and fat in the blood
increases the risk of atherosclerosis and other diseases in the blood vessels
and diseases in the heart due to problems with the heart's own blood vessels.
This tisk is even more increased when the ratio of LDL to HDL is elevated.
High cholesterole and lipid level has both lifestyle, including diateray, and heriditary origine.
It was known already in 1913 that cholesterole-rich diet leads to increased cholesterol in the blood, and atherosclerosis.Keys in his "Seven Countries Study" in the 1950eths that there was a correlation between high intake of saturated fats, high blood cholesterol in the blood and high mortality of cardiovascular disease (Keys et al., 1967). Trans fat also increases LDL-cholesterol in the blood, while fiber and plant sterols have a beneficial effect on cholesterol levels.
There are several forms of inherited high
cholesterol. The most common of these is familial hypercholesterolemia (FH)
caused by mutations in the LDL-receptor gene (Goldstein et al., 2001). LDL
receptors has a mission of removing cholesterol-containing LDL particles from
blood, and when these do not work optimally, the LDL-cholesterol level in the
blood becomes elevated. It is estimated that approximately one person out of 300
have FH.
Treatment of high cholesterole levels
Changeing the lifestyle and especially the diet is the most important way for most people to reduce the content of cholesterole in the blood. Such diet measures are: Reducing the total fat content in the diet, increasing the intake of mono-unsaturated fat and omega-3-fat, stop using trans-fat or food containining trans-fat, increasing the fibre intake, increasing the consume of sterole-rich food, reguler physical exercise.
For people suffering from heriditary hypercholesterolemia, lifestyle changes will often not be enough, and drugs of various kind kan the be of additive help.
Statins are the most common form of
cholesterol-lowering medication. These work by reducing the cell's own
production of cholesterol by inhibiting the enzyme HMG-CoA reductase. When the
cells are unable to produce cholesterol itself, they increase instead the uptake
of cholesterol-rich LDL particles from blood. A moderate dose statin can reduce
LDL cholesterol by 30% (Edwards and Moore, 2003). They also increase the number
of LDL-receptors in the liver.
Other cholesterol-lowering medications are ezetemibe, nicotinic acid and bile
acid inhibitors.
Ezetrol (Ezetimibe) is marketed by the company Schering-Plow. Ezetrol ® is used
to treat patients with FH (familial hypercholesterolemia) or patients with
cardiovascular disease and / or diabetes or patients with high risk of
developing cardiovascular disease and who also have elevated cholesterol.
Ezetrol ® works by blocking the absorption of cholesterol in the gut that comes
from both the bile (liver) and from the diet. Drug available in tablet form with
a strength of 10mg which is also the daily dose.
The drug is given alone or in combination with a
statin. Such combinatory therapy seems to work best.
About Taurine
Taurine (C2H7NO3S) or 2-aminoetanesulfonsyre is an
organic acid (derived from the amino acids) as human and animal form in the
bile. The name comes from the Latin taurus (bull), as the drug was first
discovered in the bile of an ox (Bos taurus). The substance is found in all
animal foods.
Taurine is essential for cats, who cannot create this themselves. Lack of
taurine in cats can lead to serious diseases, including lack of vision and
blindness, heart problems, and reduced fertility. Therefore, taurine is supplied
in commercial cat food.
Taurine has recently become a popular ingredient in energy drinks such as Red
Bull. The substance has no documented stimulative effects. It is unclear why
taurine is included in energy drinks, but taurine has a slightly inhibitory
effect on nerve signals. This can help to reduce tremor in the consumption of
high doses of caffeine, such as energy drinks often contain. Taurine is claimed
also to be able to bind water in the brain, which can counteract the diuretic
effect of caffeine.
Taurine is also used as nutritional supplements for body builders in combination with creatine, partly due to recent studies showing that taurine in mice counteracts muscle fatigue under physical stress and increases endurance. There have also been articles in several health and fitness magazines that claim that taurine increases the blood level in the body. This causes the muscles more easily get the supply of oxygen.
The most useful effect of taurine, however, is the effect to treat heart disease and diseases in the blood circulation system.
In Japan, taurine therapy is used in the treatment of ischemic heart disease with supplements of 5–6 grams daily in three divided doses. Low taurine and magnesium levels were found in patients after heart attacks.
Taurine has potential in the treatment of arrhythmias, especially arrhythmias secondary to ischemia. People with congestive heart failure have also responded to a dosage of 2 grams three times daily with improved cardiac and respiratory function. Other possible cardiovascular uses of taurine include hypertension, possibly related to effects in the renin-angiotensin system of the kidneys, and in patients with high cholesterol levels.
About some
other
natural substances used to treat heart-problems
L-Tyrosine-
L-Tyrosine is a direct precursor to Thyroxine, a primary thyroid hormone, as
well as Adrenaline and Nor-adrenaline. Thyroxine has been found to increase
metabolic rate and control growth rate. L-Tyrosine is a necessary amino acid in
the production of neurotransmitters including epinephrine, norepinephrine, and
dopamine. L-Tyrosine also appears to have a mild stimulatory effect on the
central nervous system.
Patients with a Thyroxine deficiency have symptoms including excess weight gain,
cold hands and feet, and decreased basal metabolism. L-Tyrosine has been found
to assist in optimizing thyroid hormone levels, increased mood, concentration,
and productivity.
L-Tyrosine is used to treat conditions including depression or mood disorder,
poor coping ability, fatigue, low sex drive, low metabolism, and drug abuse (when
combined with Tryptophan). It can also improve endurance under stress and is
effective as an appetite suppressant. When taken properly, L-Tyrosine can assist
a sluggish thyroid and aid the dieter in losing excess, unwanted pounds.
Magnesium- Magnesium is an essential
mineral in vertebrates and is the fourth abundant cation in the body, within the
cell second only to potassium. A large number of enzymes require Mg for
activation and it is involved with several physiological and biochemical
processes including synthesis of RNA, DNA or protein and stabilization of
membranes. (Schweigel M, Martens H, Frontiers in Bioscience 5, August 2000) The
importance of extracellular and intracellular magnesium has become gradually
recognized during the last century. At the present moment, pathologies as common
as diabetes, hypertension and dyslipidaemia are associated with an altered
metabolism of magnesium, and this divalent cation is even being considered as a
potential tool in the prevention or co-adjuvant treatment of ventricular
arrhythmias, coronary heart disease and cirrhosis of the liver, among others. (Yago
M, et al, Frontiers in Bioscience 5, July 1, 2000) Magnesium is a microelement
that is essential for biological functions and particularly for cellular
metabolism. It has a central role in protein, lipid, carbohydrate, and nucleic
acid synthesis, and it is important for muscular physiology and nerve
excitability. Magnesium has an important role in the stability of biological
membranes, it controls immune phenomena, and it activates over 300 enzymes and
exhibits antimutagenic effects against genotoxicity. (Bronzetti G, et al, J
Environ Pathol Toxicol Oncol, 19(4), 2000)
Gentian -
Gentian is also known as gentianine,
seamless gentian, yellow gentian, bitter root, bitter wort, pale gentian, and
gall weed. This
herb supports cardiovascular health. The herb also stimulates the digestive
system to work better by inducing greater secretion of active digestive
substances, for example the enzymes in the saliva and hydrocloric acid in the
stomach. The positive effect on the heart condition is probably a result
from better digestion. The heart is dependent upon proper continous nutrition to
work properly, and the use of gentian make it more easy for the intestines to
break down the food properly and absorb nutrients important for the heart into
the blood steram. A bad digestion will also cause engorgement of the intestines,
edema and increased pressure in the body. Such mechanical conditions make it
more difficult for the heart to work. The better digestion also releases such
problems and make it easier for the heart to do its work.
Potassium (chloride)- SYMB K: A mineral element that serves as both the principal cation in intracellular
fluid and an important electrolyte in extracellular fluid.Along with other
electrolytes (e.g., sodium, magnesium, calcium, chloride), potassium
participates in many functions, including metabolism, cell membrane homeostasis,
nerve impulse conduction, and muscle contraction. Potassium, which constitutes
0.35% of body weight, is found in most foods, including cereals, dried peas and
beans, fresh vegetables, fresh or dried fruits, fruit juices, sunflower seeds,
nuts, molasses, cocoa, and fresh fish, beef, ham, or poultry. The usual dietary
intake of potassium is 50 to 150 mEq/day. In healthy people, the kidneys excrete
any potassium excess consumed in the diet. In patients with renal failure,
congestive heart failure, hypertension, and many other illnesses, serum
potassium levels must be adjusted carefully to avoid adverse consequences of
deficiency or excess.
Choline (bitartrate)- Abnormalities of the
Heart can occur as a result of Choline deficiency: Coline serve as a part in the
transmittor substance acetylcholone. Choline is also a part of all cell
membranes as a part of the substance phospatidyl-choline.
- Choline lowers elevated Estradiol levels in males.
- Choline is helpful in the treatment of Heart Palpitations.
It is possible to get an extra supply of choline by consuming the substance lesithin. Lesithin contains a blending of phosphatidyl- choline, phosphatidyl -etanolamine, phospahtidyl-inositol and phosphatidyl-cerine. All the components in lecithin serve both as building substances in cellular membranous structures and as transmittorsubstances.
Hawthorn Berries-
Hawthorne berry today is most associated with its widespread
use as a tonic for the heart. Specifically, it protects arterial walls, has the
ability to dilate (enlarge) coronary blood vessels (the vessels supplying the
heart with vital oxygen, blood, and nutrients), and strengthen the heart's
pumping ability. Because of these powerful cardiac benefits, it is now one of
the most prescribed heart remedies in Europe.
Those people who suffer from angina, therefore, would most likely benefit by
hawthorne berry's ability to increase blood flow through the arteries.
Additionally, for the same reason, those afflicted with hypertension (high blood
pressure) may alleviate their condition since narrowed arteries require the
heart to work more strenuously in getting blood through them.
People who suffer from tachycardia (rapid heart beating) and cardiac arrhythmia
(irregular heart beating) may also find relief. It also has antioxidant
properities which may help offset arterial damage from plaque formation and
accumulation.
Calcium- It is
well known that calcium plays a key role in the contraction of the heart. Each
time a heart muscle cell contracts, an electric signal causes a small amount of
“trigger” calcium to enter across the cell membrane. Larger amounts of calcium –
which are stored in special compartments within the cell – then flood out,
activating proteins that perform the contraction. The muscle relaxes when the
calcium returns to its storage compartment.
Calsium is also a major
component of bone tissue. Bone tissue consists of three major components. One of
the component is a stony substance made mostly of a calsium phosphate and
protein fibres. This stony component gives the bone its shape, hardness and
elasticity. The other comonent are bone cells, osteoblasts and blood vessels.
The cellular components and vessels are placed in small rooms and channals in
the stony matrix. The stony component of the bones are continously broken down
and rebuilt in order to keep the bones in good shape. Therefore a daily
supply of enough calcium is necessary to keep the bones in the body healthy.
CoQ10-
CoQ10 is a powerful, fat-soluble, vitamin-like substance found naturally in all
forms of animal life. It is synthesized in the membranes of cells in humans and
is vital to the production of energy. It is the power plant of the body that is
found in most cells, with especially high concentration in the heart, the organ
that requires high levels of energy for normal operation. In addition, it is a
potent antioxidant, similar to vitamin E. In its pure form, CoQ10 is a
yellow-orange, tasteless, crystalline powder.
Coenzyme Q10 (2,3,dimethoxy-5-methyl-6 decaprenyl-1, 4-benzoquinone) was
isolated from cardiac mitochondria by Dr. F. Crane et al. in the U.S. in 1957
and its chemical structure was determined by Dr. K. Folkers et al. in 1958.
Coenzyme Q10 is also known as "ubiquinone," a name derived from the word
ubiquitous, meaning "everywhere."
As we grow older, the level of CoQ10 in our bodies decreases. This can be due to
several factors: the inability of the body to produce or synthesize adequate
amounts of CoQ10, an insufficiency of CoQ10 in the diet or the effect of various
outside influences such as stress or disease. Low levels of CoQ10 have been
reported in people with heart failure, cardiomyopathy, gingivitis, hypertension,
muscular dystrophy, diabetes and AIDS, as well as in people on kidney dialysis,
undergoing chemotherapy and people taking statins. Therefore, those who wish to
boost their level of energy and their general level of wellness should consider
taking daily supplements of CoQ10. Also, people who suffer from risk factors of
any of the above diseases or conditions should raise their CoQ10 levels as soon
as possible.
L-Carnitine- L-Carnitine is responsible for
transporting fatty acids from stored spaces in the liver and muscle tissue into
the "powerhouses" of cells, known as the mitochondria. This gives energy to the
muscles, allowing them to pump stronger, which in turn stimulates oxygen to
circulate more efficiently throughout the body. The increased supply of oxygen
continues the cycle – more oxygen leads to more fatty acid being burned for fuel.
Instances when oxygen is in limited supply include quick bursting activities and
heart failure, when the heart pump is weak and circulation of nutrients is poor.
Raw Heart Concentrate- Supports
cardiovascular health by furnishing important building blocks for heart repair
and tools for the physiological processes in the heart in their most natural
form.
Thyroid Extract-
Some physicians use thyroid extract as an alternative treatment
to synthetic thyroid hormones (such as thyroxine and levothyroxine) for people
with hypothyroidism. Thyroid extract contains two biologically active hormones (thyroxine
(T4) and triiodothyroxine (T3)), whereas the most commonly prescribed
thyroid-hormone preparations contain only thyroxine. One study has shown that
the combination of the two hormones contained in thyroid extract is more
effective than thyroxine alone for individuals with hypothyroidism.21 One doctor
reported that in his experience, thyroid extract works better than standard
thyroid preparations for some people with hypothyroidism.
Inositol-
Inositol is a component of lecithin wich is a building
constituent of cell membranes. Inositol is also a tool used in the breakdown of
fats and fatty substances. This brakedown helps to take away fat deposits
in the bood vessel walls and to reduce blood cholesterole. It also helps to
yield energy for the work of body organs, for example the heart. The
compund also helps preventing thinning of hair. Deficiency of inositol may result in high blood cholesterol, constipation, eczema
and hair
loss.
Bromelain- Bromelain is a mixture of
protein dissolving enzymes found in some fruits like pineaple ( ananas comosus )
and papaya. Bromelain supplements help the digestion of proteins. This will help
the absortion of substances useful for the repair of heart injury.
Oral supplements of bromelain reduces inflammation
in many body tissues. Since inflammation is a component of heart damage,
bromelain may therefore help to reduce and mend damage of heart tissue.
Oral supplements of bromelain further help to dissolve platelet aggregations in the blood vessels, or help to prevent building up of such aggregates. Oral supplements of bromelain also help to dissolve fibrine deposits in the blood vessels, or help to prevent building up of such deposits.
The gluing of platelets
together is a component of blood clot formation and of narrowing of blood
vessels. The deposit of fibrine is also
a component in blood clot formation and narrowing of blood vessels. The
substance therefore helps against the narrowing and clogging of blood vessels
seen by heart disease.
Bromelain consists of protein molecules, and such
molecules are broken down before they are absorbed into the blood stream. The
enzyme activity of bromelain will therefore not be present afer absorbion into
the blood stream. The anti-inflammatory action and action against deposits in
the vessels are therefore probably due to the activity of smaller pieces of
these protein molecules absorbed into the blood stream, but not to the main
enzyme activity.
The enzymatic action or bromelain is used in traditional medicine and sometimes in standard medicine to clean wounds for debris, dead tissue, inflammatory products and excessive fibrin deposits. It is also used to clear a clogged nasal passage.
Low-dose aspirin and certain nutrients
provide partial protection against abnormal blood clots, but a newly identified
clotting factor-fibrinogen-mandates that additional measures be taken to prevent
heart attack and stoke. High levels of fibrinogen predispose a person to
coronary and cerebral artery disease, even when other known risk factors such as
cholesterol are low.
For maximum fibrinogen-lowering effect, the proteolytic enzyme bromelain may be
the most effective nutrient supplement.
Chondroitin Sulfate A -
Chondroitin sulfate is a glycosaminoglycan. Chondroitin sulfate molecules
are composed of a chain of up to 100 alternating sugar units (N-acetylgalactosamine
and glucuronic acid). The sugar units have sulpahte groups (SO4) attached on
them at various positions. It is usually found attached to proteins as part of a
proteoglycan. It is the most abundant
glucosaminoglycan in articular cartilage. It also is a natural component of
several tissues in the body, including tendons, bones, intervertebral disks,
cornea and heart valves. The substance together with the attached proteins gives
these tissues strength against compression, a propery that is most important in
the cartilages of joints.
Methionine-
Methionine is an amino acid, and as such it is
also important for the building up of muscular tissue and all other tissues,
including the heart tissue. The body cannot produce this amino acid itself, and
therefore it must be supplied.
This substance is also needed as a tool in the
breakdown of fat to produce energy package mulecules that are directly used in
the work of the body organs. This action appears to be
particularly important in the heart.
Since methionine helps to break down fat, it also
help to avoid building up of fat deposits in the walls of blood vessels and to
remove fat from the vessel walls.
Methionine is of a special
importance in the building of proteins. All genes in the body that specify
proteine structures has a code for methionine first, and this code is used to
signal to build up of a new protein molecule. Therefore all protein molecules
get a methionine unit at the beginning place in the molecular chain, and no
protein syntesis can occur without methionin. In meny proteins this
methionine unit is however removed again. This impotrance for proteine building,
make the compund very important for all repair processes in the body, including
repair of damages in the heart.
Lifestyle factors as a cause of heart and circulatory disease
About lipids, cholesterole, lipoproteins (HDL and LDL) and other lifestyle factors of important for the health of the heart and blood circulation.
Bad diet and general bad lifestyle cause atherosclerosis, high blood pressure and other imbalances. These will then over time cause more distinct circulatory and heart diseases, like angina and heart infarction.
The consume of lipids is a lifestyle factor important for the heart and circulatory health. Lipids are fat and fat-like substances, like cholesterole. Lipoproteins are proteins that take up lipids and carry them to other places in the body where they are realeased or deposited. They are of thwo types, High density lipoproteins (HDL) and low density lipoproteins (LDLS) Both the amount of lipids you cunsume and the type is important to the health. Also the consentration ratio between the two types of lipoproteins is of importanse.
Experts generally advice that 20-30% of the energy intake shall be consumed as fat. This does not mean that 30% of the food you eat should be fat, because fat has a high energy content, and because the food contain much water. Only moderate fat consume is necessary to get 30% of your energy from fat.
Ideally much of the fat you consume shall be mono-unsaturated fat. This fat is found in olive oil, rape, canola oil, and almonds.
You need som omega-3-polyunsaturated fat. This is found in fish and seefood, and in flax oil.
You also need some omega-6-polyunsaturated fat. You find this in commonly used oils as soy oil, corn oil, sunflower oul and most other commonly used vegatable oils. It is easy to consume too much of these oils and get too much of this fat type. Even though you need some of it, too much of it will hurt your blood circulation, heart and general health.
A high consume of saturated fat saturated fat will hurt your heart, blood vessels and general halth. Saturated fat is the kind of fat you find in red meat, in diary products, in coconut oil and palm oil. A moderate consume does however not seem to be dangerous.
Chemically altered fat, so-called-trans. fat is very dangerous for the general health and the health of the heart and circulatory system. Trans-fat are very often used in fast-food, read made food, margarine, cookies and snacks. It is also often added to bread.
There seems to be one exception from the dangerousness of trans-fat. The trans-fat acid called conjugated linoleic acid seems to be good for the health in small amounts. Fat containing this this acid is found in diary products, in red meat, and can be bought as a supplement.
Cholesterole is a needed substance in the body, but the concentration can get too high. A high cholesterole level in the blood increases the chance of getting circulatory and heart diseases. Cholesterole is found in eggs, in fat diary products and in red meat. The body also easily converts saturated fat to cholesterole. On the other hand, the cholesterole level should not be too low either, so a fanatic cholesterole lowering regime is probably not to recomend.
Fat and cholesterole are transported in the blood by lipoproteins. Low density lipoproteins (LDL) take up lipids absorbed by the intestines and deposit hem in the walls of blood vessels.
High density lipoproteins (HDL) take up lipids from the walls of the blood vessels and other deposits and make the lipids available for the body as energy resource.
