About ways of alternating the penis

There are many ways that are used to alternate the penis, both in traditional cultures and as fashionable prcatices in modern western cultures. Many cultures since millennia have had a practice of altering the penis or other parts of the male genital apparatus. These alternations have traditionally been a part of a religious practice or a practice used for some kind of ritual for transformation fo a boy into an adult after which the boy was allowed into the adult world. However, it may also have been a way to controle the behaviour of young people.

Penis augmentation (also called penis enhancement) - This is the same as increasing the size of a penis with various means. By means of natural drugs or phramacological drugs, the penis can be made to erect larger, both in size and girth. This practical augmentation can in fact be so effective that a man feels that any permanent augmentation of the penile tissue is not necessary.

If one also want to increae the sizes and masses of the tissues permanantly and get a naturally looking result, one must use some gradual stretching techiques repeated daily for a long tume. A longitudinal stretching will lengthen the penis, and to some degreee make it broader also, because the stretching make the tissue grow more massive.

If one want equal augmentation in both length and girth, a stretching with some evacuation device like a penile pump will give the best results.

There are surgical techiques for penis lengthening or penis broading, but these do not give a natural result, since they involve transplanting fat tissue and cutting the penis more free from the groin area so that hidden parts of the penis come forth.

Making the penis straighter and more regular - A bent or twisted penis is a problem for many men. When the penis is wholly consisting of normal tissue, that condition can also be remedied by a gentle gradual stretching, and again penis stretching devices and penis pumps are effective. This meth has shown also to be effective with the disease condition called Peyronies disease whereby an inflammatory condition makes inelastic areas in the penis that further mekes it twisted or bent, especially when it erects itself.

Circumcission - The most common penis alternating intervention is circumcission where penile foreskin is cut off. It is most often used on young boys for religious reasons, for example inJewish andf muslim societies.

It is sometimes used on boys or adults as a cleanliness measure or to prevent diseases. Used this way the procedure has little or no value. The frequency of circumcision for these purposes vary from cociety to society. In European societies the prctice have either not gained gound or is now obsolete. In North America it is widely practicised, but has declined.

Circumcision is sometimes used to solve problems with the retraction of the foreskin, for example by phimosis. There are however other methods of solving such problems, and the method is by now mostly obsolete for this purpose.

Circumcission can also be use as a cosmetic measure or because a man or the partners he enage find a circumcized penis more sexy or less dirty. Circumcission has also been used as chastisty measure or to make it difficult for boys to masturbate.

The circumcission can be of various degree. Only the tip or some portion of the penis may be cut away. This waqs probably the original jewish or oriental way of doing it. The whole foreskin can be taken off. The most radical, and in spite of this probably the most coomon, is to take away also the frenulun - the band at the underside of the penis that connects the penile head to the shaft of the penis.

Phrenulectomy or phrenulum cut (phrenulotomy)  - The phrenulum of the penis may sometimes be taken away to give the foreskin greater mobility or it mey sometimes be cut through for the same reason. By using this metgod there will allways be a dnager of gettig a flaccid oreskin the do not easily fo back over the penile head again when an erection goes down again.

By the way, phrenulectomy phrenulotomy is also the name of a similar procedure that dentists or doctoras do on the band under the tongue to make the tongue more mobile. It is most often done on children to make it more easy for them to pronounce certain sounds.

Foreskin subcission  - The under-side of the foreskin can be split for various reasons. It can be done for aestetic reasons. It can be done to make the foreskin more easy to retract. In some tribes it is a maturation ritual for boys. It is sometimes used as a surgical means to treat phimosis or a to narrow foreskin.

Foreskin widening - The foreskin can be widened by frequent stretching, by hand or by special traction devices for that purpose.This is most often done to make the foreskin more fuctional, or even to cure phimosis. In order to work the method must be employed each day  in a longer period. It is important not to over-stretch the foreskin so that tears develope, and good hygiene is necessary. For som men or boys this method can be very effective to solve foreskin problems. Usually the circumpherence of the foreskin tip is widened to make it easier to retract. Also the fenulum may be elongated this way to make retraction more esasily.

Foreskin restoration - By this method the foreskin of a circumcized penis is restored from rests of the foreskin or from skin beeath the penile head upwards over the penis head, by gradually extending by means of several traction methods. In order to achieve a positive result, the practice must be done for a long time and with great disipline.

Penile piercing - By this techique a channel is made through some place in the penis and some kind of adorn is placed in the channel. The adorn usually has spherical or bulbous shapes at either end so that it is held in place. The reasons for piercing is to obtain genital stimulation for the wearer of the piercing, for the pleasure of the partner by sexual activities and aesthetic reasons.

A common place to pierce is from the under-side of the penile head into the the urethra just inside the pee-hole. Usually the channel goes in at the side of the frenulum. By Prince Albert piercing une uses a rod with spheres in both ends thread from the underside of the penile head and out through the pee-hole.

By apadravya piercing, the adorn is inserted through a channel that goes from the upper side of the penile head through the urethra and out at the underside.

By dydoe piercing the channel is made through the ridge of the penile head. The piercing can be placed at the top or more than one piercings can be cymetrically placed to the sides.

By empailing piercing the channel is made from side to side of the penile head or from side to side of the penis shaft. It can be made to go through the urethra or above the urethra.

By piercing through the penis head or even more through the penile shaft, there is allways a dager of hurting the erectile bodies, of injuring important blood vessels, of bleeding or of causing infections. There will also be problems of holding the channel clean.

Penis subcision or urethral subcicion - By this techique the inderside of the penis and the urethra going through the penis at this place is split open with a lengthwise slit. The length of the incision may vary. The procedure is often self-performed and often stepwise with one step at the time.

The procedure may be used as an aestethic measure or to enhance sexual pleasure. The urethra and the tissues around the urethra have nerve endings with sensual bodies that are more easily accessed this way.

The practice has been traditional done in many tribes, often as a coming-of-age ritual. It is by now fshionable in some western subcultures.

Penis splitting or penile bisection - Some men split or let split the penile head in who sections with a vertical split. Some also let split parts of te penile shaft or possibly also the whole penile shaft. There is a variant where also the scrotum is split. A penis split this way is still able to get erect if it is done in an exact way, but the two halves will often curve in various ways and make intercource difficult.

The techique makes the inside of the urethra exposed and makes it more easiy to stimulate the urethral inside, which is very sensual.

Penile tattoo - Penile tattoo is becomming stedily more common. Because it is difficult to keep the proportions of a picture tattooed on the penis, it is not common to make pictures on the penis. Instead one usually makes abstract figures on this part of the body.

Sometimes the tattoo is not used to give a specific pattern but rathter to color the penis in another color or color tune, or to make a more distinct difference in the colorration of the various parts of the penis.

The glans is not tattooed since the skin in this area is too delicate, but it is possible to do it, and some men also let the glans be tattoed.

One way of tattooing the penis is to make it look like a snake with phe penile head being the snake head. Another way is to tatoo a bigger picture on the lower part of the belly, and tatto the penis so that it look like some part of that picture. If one tattooes a face, the penis can be made to look like a tongue sticking out of the mouth of the face. Some men let a picture of a dragon seen from the front end be tattooed and let the penis look like the long neck and head of the dragon.

Urethral dilation or sonding - By this alternation, the urethra is stedily wided by inserting rods or tubes with rouded ends, as one proceed one uses steadily thicker objects until the urethra has the wanted inner volume. Usually all the urethra from the penis tip to the bladder is dilated. The dilation is usually done with special banaba-shaped metalic rods of steadily wider shape called sounds.

During dilation the instruments must be absolutly clean and they must be made smooth with an absolutly clean or anticeptic lubricant. Also the genitals must be made absolutly clean. One must at each time use sonds that are just a bit wider than the room inside the urethra in order to avoid rupture. The urethra is very elastic, so rupture does not occure so easily, but if it occurs, great bleedings and sharp pain will be the result. Before dilation one also often usen an analgesic drug sprayed into the urethra.

Urethral dilation is a medical procedure used to widen a too narrow urethra or to open up strictures inside the urethra than makes it difficult to pass urine or ejaculate semen. Some people practicis urethral dilation to get sexual pleasure. In order to not cause pain instead of pleasure, it must be done very carefully and very smoothly.

Some men dilate the size of the urethra to get a stronger urine flow, even when this is not medically necessary, because the strong urine flow gives a greater sexual pleasure.

Sounds are also sometimes used just for sexual pleasure without the aim of making the urethra wider. The techiques and precautions are the same in this case, but one does not use steadily wider sonds.


Psychological or cultural reasons for radical penile or genital alternations or mutilation

Some of the techiques explaned above may give some aesthetic advantages, and may give rize to greater sensitivity and thereby pleasure. But the techiques also gives pain, there may be dangerous and they often make the penis less functional. Therefore these sound reasons cannot be the whole reason for those practices.

In societies where genital mutilation is done on young boys, it is often a kind of power or controle techiques that grown-ups and especially the authorities of the society use to show their power over children or young persons.

By letting the younger ones go through such procedures, the young are manipulated and weaned to accept that the authorities have the right to decide over them, whatever they might choose to decide. They are furthermore weaned to tollerate the pain and dagers such decicions might imply.

This enforced authoriety is later very often used when the boys are commanded to war as soldiers.

Genital alternation is also often done in order to controle or hinder sexual ctivities of young boys and also of grown-up men, and even to restrict sex for only reproductive purposes.

The boys are often told that the procedure and the rituals connected to the procedures is a part of growing up an becomming a man, and this explanation is usually an interglal part of the culture together with the rituals.

Generally there will also be a belief in the society that the rituals and mutilations are necessary for fuctioning normally and successfully as a man, or that a boy is impure in his natural shape and therefore must be clkeaned for impure anatomical details.

Because the procedures are integreted in the culture, they are also teached and done authomatically from generation to generation. Therefore people generally and often also the authorities themselves are not thinking explicitly about the real reasons fort the procedures, which is power and enforcement of authority.

But in most societies perdorming such rituals there will be specially invited authority holders that have been told the hidden or partly hidden reasons explicitly, and those provide for a continuation of the tradition.

When men do or let do surgical penis altertations, they often do it to show to themselves and others that they are real men that can tollereate pain. Many societies, and that include the western European and American societies, do not regard men that cannot tolerate or are not willing to tolerate great pain as real men. Some men mutilate themsvs on various body parts to prove their manhood, bravery and strength.

Some men also mutilate themselves to inflict a punctual and shar pain in order to over-shadow a broader more psychological pain. The pain inflicte this way may also stimulate his central nervous function and thereby allevaiate a depression.

And then some men mutilate body parts to punish themselves. The society is constantly telling people that their feelings actions or tendencies are sinful, shameful or a direct crimeful (against written laws or unwritten standards of behaviour). The society may even tell explicitly or indirectly that being a man or boy with genital organs and with sexual feelings is sinful or shameful. This constant propaganda may get many boys and men feeling a dep guilt, and that guilt can make some of them mutilate themselvs for punishment.
